After so much excitement about the near completion of the newly constructed Muff Greenway, it has come to light that there have been a number of errors in the planning. Apparently the route has partially dissected the natural habitat of an unusual species of snail in a small area on the lower Kilderry lane. Something which was clearly overlooked and missed in the early stages of planning.
The environmental lobby has instructed that the said section of the Greenway must be dug up, and be returned to it’s natural habitat to facilitate the detected species.
With the environment to the fore at present, it is envisaged that work will halt on the Greenway for a short period until this issue is resolved and a resolution put in place.
All parties will discuss the issue later today with the council. It is hoped that the delay in completion will not be too severe.
