I couldn’t believe my eyes whilst sitting in the Chasin’ Bull bar in Bundoran on Saturday evening, when I spied a poster across the bar titled ‘World Irish Stew Championships’. I got up from my cosy chair by the fireside to inspect. My eyes were not deceiving me. This was real!

The event is yet another formed under ‘The Gathering’ which is happening nationwide throughout this present year. The final of the World Irish Stew Championship will take place in St Angela’s College in its beautiful setting on Lough Gill, Co Sligo on 1st/2nd May 2013. There is sure to be a lot of fun that goes with this gathering… masterclasses, themed dinners, seminars, land and sea foraging trails and well known chefs and cooks from near and far in attendance.   An action packed week of activities adventures for foodies young and old is being planned and should not be missed.

So there you go folks, I had to sit down on a bitterly cold March Saturday evening by the fireside in the fabulous Chasin’ Bull to discover the World Irish Stew Championships 2013. Whatever will be next….time will tell..
