Moville Man's Ruined Pilgrimage
A Moville man, Gerry McLaughlin, was caught up in the terrorist attack on Glasgow airport last week.
Gerry, 79, was born and reared in Moville but brought up his family in Greenock, Scotland.
He has a house in the River Row in Moville and visits about 5 times a year spending an average of three months a year here.
Pilgrimage
He was due to go on a pilgrimage to Majagori the day after the terror attack along with his daughter Liz.
The flight was cancelled because of the continuing terrorist threat and he was sent on to Edinburgh airport.
After a dash across there that flight got cancelled too.
Holiday Shock
He got in touch with the travel agency to find out when the holiday could be rescheduled to or at least how he would get his money back - and then came the shock.
The travel company told him that passengers are not insured against terrorist attacks and so he wouldn't get any money back.
He had lost all of the money he and his daughter had spent on the pilgrimage.
There wasn't to be a penny to be returned.
His pilgrimage had been ruined by religious extremists.
