DylanFest in Moville
The 2nd day of the DylanFest kicked off with Lauren Murphy in the Bar-A-Cuda on Saturday afternoon.
What a strong voice she has for a 15-year old.
She started off with some of her own songs before launching into Dylan.
She went down very well.
William Byrne
Meanwhile William Byrne, who had come up from Dun Laoghaire, was playing at Maguires.
I caught a couple of his songs which went down well.
Others who had been there thought it was an excellent set and he was great value.
115th Dream
Possibly the musical stars of the afternoon were 115th Dream, consisting of Finbarr Clancy, ex of the Clancy Brothers and his cousin Collie Power.
There were close to a hundred people in Rawdons which is great for a Saturday afternoon.
Again I caught a few of their songs and had rave reviews about them, both from the audience and a delighted owner Mick Cavanagh who wished they could have gone on for longer.
Lauren Murphy
Lauren Murphy, who had been such a big success at the Rory Gallagher Festival in Ballyshannon, played a quick 20 minute set following 115th Dream in Rawdons before heading south for a big gig in Omagh.
Elston Gunn
I didn't manage to catch any of Elston Gunn's who lead sings for headline act The Phantom Engineers who would play at night) set on Saturday afternoon, which is a great shame, arriving just as he was packing up.
However, a friend who had come over from England for the DylanFest said that it had been fantastic and that Rosatos had been pretty full for a Saturday afternoon.
He had been out and about since early and that was the one he was raving about.
Steph Buhe
I didn't catch Steph Buhe in the Bar-A-Cuda.
I had caught his magnificent performance the night before at Rawdons when he had the whole place rocking and singing along with him.
The Plea
In the early evening, local band The Plea, had a great set.
I only caught the beginning of it but already saw that they had built up a great audience rapport in the biggest of the venues the Bar-A-Cuda.
Even other musicians at the festival were singling them out as a huge hit at the DylanFest.
It's great to know that Donegal has a Dylan act that can rank up there with the best of them.
Huge Success
With all that activity it was hard to have a break and the friend of mine from London said that it was about time he had some breakfast - and that was at 8pm at night.
Saturday afternoon was a huge success.
Come Gather Round People
The weather was much better than had been predicted with a sunny, warm day.
I heard several people get on ther mobile phones and say variations of "Listen, I'm up here in Moville at a DylanFest. It's great craic and the weather is good. Come on up".
And up they must have come for the evening session.
