Moville Summer Festival Queen

Moville is to revive the contest for Festival Queen for their summer festival this year.

Each pub is to nominate one girl who can be either a member of staff or a customer.

The girls go to a Grand Final in The Town Clock on July 28th.

The judges will then decide the winner.

Busy Week for Pub Owners

The deadline for the Pubs to select a girl is Saturday 14th of July so they don't have much time.

The girls of the town may find themselves being approached in the next week not just by the young guys of the town chatting them up but also by the pub owner or manager who may ask "Will you be my Festival Queen?".

Prizes for Festival Queen

The girl selected as Festival Queen would receive as prizes:-

1. A €50 voucher for Redcastle Spa

2. She will get to keep the Festival Queen gown designed and made by YourStyle

3. A basket of beauty products from the Beauty Salon

4. A basket of beauty products from Utopia.

Why Just the Pubs?

I wonder why it has been just kept to the pubs.

There may have been other businesses in the town who might like to put forward girls as their nominations.

Gillens and Centra might have been amongst the favourites if they had been allowed to nominate as most of the town are their customers.

Beauty Trade

The Beauty Salon and Utopia might have been able to field good candidates from amongst their customers.

The local hairdressers might have wanted to nominate - and they could also have thrown in a free hair-do to give their candidates a better chance of winning.

Perhaps I might have wanted to nominate a Miss CraicOn.

Disadvantage

The Town Clock might be at a disadvantage.

As most people tend to go there later on in the night they might find themselves asking girls to be their Festival Queen who tell them "Sorry. I'm already Miss Waterfront (or Miss Corner Bar or Miss Rosatos or Miss Trawlerman)".

Shame Mike has closed his pub as Miss Hair of the Dog might have had a certain ring to it.

The Betting

I wonder if bookmakers Ducksie or Mickey Doherty will be running a book on which pub wins it.

I think that it wouldn't be right to have betting on which individual girl would win it, but there wouldn't be any harm on running a book on which pub would win it - before the girl is selected.

My money would be on Rosatos judging by last Saturday night (luckily my wife doesn't read this website).

I wonder though who gets to pick the girl there - after all the joint owners are Eddie and Margaret Harkin.
