Jennifer Harris is Moville Festival Queen

After a close contest with six other girls all nominated by local pubs, Jennifer Harris of the Town Clock was proclaimed Moville Festival Queen last night.

She had earlier proved her talent by singing for the big Town Clock crowd, as had Nadine Fiorentini, which got loud cheers. Amanda McGonigle had played the tin whistle.

Looking Great

All seven girls had been interviewed earlier in the day and had been made up to look great at the Beauty Salon.

They looked a picture in their evening gowns worth €300 each and winner Jennifer was allowed to keep hers along with baskets of beauty products from the Beauty Salon and Utopia.

She also got a €50 voucher for the Spa at the Carlton Hotel in Redcastle.

Town Clock Representative

The previous day I had been into the Town Clock for a bite to eat during the day and was served by Jennifer. I asked one of the managers there (who also had a sister in the competition) who the Town Clock's representative would be.

He told me (in her presence) that Jennifer would represent them.

I asked him if he thought she would win it.

Humble Pie

He shook his head and said he thought Nadine Fiorentini would win (the only other guy I asked said that too).

So, he'll be eating a large portion of humble pie this morning as Jennifer's looks and personality (and singing talent) carried off the main prize.

Now she'll be getting ready to open the Moville Summer Festival next week.

She'll also be presenting any prizes to be given out at the Festival.

Enjoyable

All the girls seemed to enjoy the night immensely.

What an experience it has been for them all, especially Jennifer.

It can't be taken away from her.

She'll always be Moville Festival Queen 2007.

Clonmany

Clonmany is having their 40th Festival Queen this year and to celebrate that they have invited all of the previous 39 Festival Queens back again for the special occasion.

So, if Moville do something similar we can maybe see Jennifer make a reappearance on the big stage in the year 2047 cheered on by her children and grandchildren.

But that's the future.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Jennifer and we hope she will really enjoy this great opportunity and carry great memories into the future of the time when she was Moville's Summer Festival Queen.

Apologies for not having a picture of the girls and the winner but my stupid camera packed up just before I came out for the night.

I'll need to flash out on another one for the Festival next week.

After the one I got pickpocketed out of at the Champions League Final in Athens in May the new one will be my third new camera this year. This is getting to be an an expensive hobby.
