Moville's BeatlesFest

They came on Thursday night to pitch their tents and to record Ireland's only BeatlesFest.

They are the students of Ireland's first ever Music Technology university course at Maynooth and when they graduate in two years time they will be Ireland's first ever Music Technology graduates.

Volunteers

A few weeks ago, Heather Walker who hails from West Donegal, near Killybegs, got in touch and volunteered to help out with the sound at the BeatlesFest.

Heather is a huge Beatles fan and, as I discovered in Rosatos last night, has an encylopaedic knowledge of them.

Helping with the sound systems will be great in itself as there were major sound problems at the DylanFest as neither I nor the publicans know much about it.

Most of the problems got solved but they left me exhausted by the end of the Saturday night.

Recording the Festival

Heather and I also decided that it would be a good idea to record the BeatlesFest weekend. She will also combine with a friend of hers Susie Nix who is a media student at DCU to make an out-and-about film of the festival.

Heather brought along fellow Music technology students Marianne (called after Marianne Faithfull as her mother was a big Mick Jagger fan) and Cillian. Susie and two other students will arrive today.

As well as the festival they will also record and film the artists playing a song or two upstairs and outside at Rosatos.

BeatlesFest CDs for Sale

It seems that the process of making CDs is not as difficult as it used to be.

The BeatlesFest CD will be on sale in local retail outlets on the Sunday of the festival.

That's quick.

From what I gather it will be on sale for €9.95 but that's not definite yet.

Nice to see some entreprise from the music industry professionals of the future.
