Moville DylanFest
We were told at the weekend by local girl Mary Burns that they had been discussing Moville's DylanFest on Downtown Radio which is probably the biggest radio station in Northern Ireland.
Not only that but there was a radio phone in about it with lots of people saying that they couldn't wait and were coming up for the Festival.
Radio Shows
Last week we managed to get a bit of a plug in ICR with a 15-minute interview.
Now it was time to go down to Derry to do a 10-minute interview with Paul McFadden of Foyle Radio sometime between 10am and 10:30am.
Good Time
We were there in plenty of time.
I was surprised to see that we could hear and see Paul McFadden talking from the Reception Area.
We were there about half an hour before we got shown through into the recording area.
Waiting Time
We had to wait for a taped interview with Packy Bonner on being given the Freedom of Donegal.
We had a chat with Paul McFadden whilst that was playing.
He seemed very friendly and put us at our ease.
Picture
I asked if I could take a picture of him.
"Sure" he said.
He also got his producer Eimar into the room to take a picture of the three of us together.
At Our Ease
By the time the interview started we were nice and relaxed.
Whilst Lay Lady Lay by Bob Dylan played as an introduction to our piece Paddy told Paul that this was supposed to be the song for the movie Midnight Cowboy but he finished it too late.
I saw Paul scribbling as he said it and he opened up the interview by discussing it with Paddy.
DylanFest News
He then turned to me and asked where the idea for a DylanFest in Moville came from and if news was getting out about it.
Paddy then gave a good talk linking in Bob Dylan to Donegal through the Clancy Brothers and the fact that Dylan took the tune of The Homes of Donegal and added his own lyrics for his classic song "I Pity the Poor Immigrant".
Heat of the Interview
I had written down a list of points that I should say on the show, like how people can get more details about the Festival, but forgot most of them in the heat of the interview.
Never mind! It went well though and a fresh bunch of people now know that there is going to be a Dylanfest in Moville this weekend.
I can't wait!
