New bike hire, Cycle Link, opens in Greencastle

Greencastle man Paul McC is betting that Greencastle can support a bike hire business and has invested plenty of his own money that he is correct.

He has already purchased 30 brand new bikes.

He has also purchased advertising extensively in the North in Portrush and Coleraine etc. to let them know about his biking facilities.

According to Paul, "I'm hoping to help expand the tourism in the local area".

Ferry Passengers

He is hoping that foot passengers coming across in the ferry from Magilligan to Greencastle will hire a bicycle and cycle around the local area.

I put it to him that as there is no major town on the other side that there wouldn't be many foot passengers coming from Magilligan to Greencastle.

Answer

He had, of course, an answer for that.

He suggested that people could drive to Magilligan, leave their cars on the other side, come over as foot passengers, which it seems is much cheaper than taking a car over, and then hire cycles when they get to Greencastle.

Hiring House

His house, where he will be hiring cycles from, is just on the other side of the road when you come off the ferry, on the Moville side of McDonalds boatyard.

If the venture is successful he is considering opening a bike hire business in Moville as well.

Prices

The price for ladies and gents bikes is €20 per day and €5 an hour.

They also do a cycling package where you can have a day's cycling plus B&B from €70 a day and also a day's cycling with a Hotel (Castle Inn) from €90 a day.
