Tony Bramwell

People are asking who to see at the BeatlesFest.

The person who you must see is Tony Bramwell.

Not only was he The Beatles Road manager and head of Apple Records and Apple Films and afterwards Polydor Records but he is a fount of knowledge about the Sixties and even up to the present day.

Indeed Paul McCartney said in 2002 "If you want to know about The Beatles ask Tony Bramwell, he remembers more than I do".

Tony has done a plethora of knowledge about the music industry.

Achievements

There are far too many to name here but let me just give you a flavour:-

1. He made the first ever Pop Videos and was acknowledged for that by MTV.

2. He was the first ever promoter employed by a record company

3. He can tell you stories about Dylan, Hendrix, Clapton, The Kinks, The Who and loads of others

4. He is a personal friend of Bruce Springsteen's and many others. He and Bruce stay at each others' houses when in the country

5. After he left The Beatles he was responsible for the music for the Bond Films. Indeed he recruited Paul McCartney for the theme tune for Live and Let Die.

6. He turned down Daniel O'Donnell

7. He is in the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on his own merit

8. A film is being made next year about Eva Cassidy who he discovered and managed. The director will be Robert Redford. Nicole Kidman will be Eva Cassidy and a top actor has been recruited to play Tony.

9. His book Magical Mystery Tour: My Life With the Beatles was a Top Ten best seller in the US and Top Five in the UK.

Top Band

The top band playing at this year's BeatlesFest will be Colenso Parade from Belfast who were highly acclaimed when they played Glasgowbury recently.

A review said that they would not be out of place at a much larger concert.

They will be playing in the Caiseal Mara on the Saturday night where there will also be An Audience with Tony Bramwell.

Jumping JellyFish

Another 'must see' act will be Oisin and Baz from the top Derry covers band Jumping Jellyfish who will be playing the Town Clock tonight (Friday) where Tony Bramwell will also be in attendance.

They have now replaced The Cannibals as the Saturday night act in The Bar-A-Cuda.

Jumping Jellyfish play top music venue Mason's Bar in Derry ever Sunday night.

Matt Whoriskey

Matt Whoriskey played Rosatos on Opening Night on Thursday and was rated highly by Tony Bramwell. Matt was a bit nervous playing in front of Tony as he had seen The Beatles play all the songs before.

However, Tony clapped every song and spoke of his approval the next day.

Matt will appear with top Moville musician Paddy McLaughlin on the Sunday in Rosatos.

Paul Bredin

Paul Bredin plays great versions of Acroos the Universe and I Am The Walrus as well as many others and you must catch him with Damien McGonigle in Rosatos on Friday.

Damian Sheridan, who plays Rosatos prime gig on the Saturday night is a 'must see'.

He is a class musician.

Indeed they are all 'must see' acts.

Mouth Watering

And the shape of Moville, where all the venues are on or just off the main square will mean that people can sample the different acts and pick the one that suits them best.

It's a mouth watering programme this year and we've only just begun.

Even better the weather has just turned good and the prediction is for lots of warm, sunny weather for the weekend.

Bring it on!
