Joe Barr
I was talking with Joe Barr in Rosatos the otherday .
He was brought up in Paisley but his family are from here and, like me, he has been coming here since he was a kid.
He is now a Depute Advocate in the Glasgow High Court but he still gets over here regularly.
He sent me this email
River Bredagh
After our chat the other night in Rosatos, I spoke to my Uncle Patsy and Aunt Rita about salmon and sea trout in the Bredagh.
They both confirm being aware of them, and Rita apparently has a picture of my brother John and I with 2 of our fish, both of which were bars of silver, fresh from the sea, one a sea trout and the other a good bit bigger - probably a grilse.
Patsy confirms being aware of sea trout and salmon in the Bredagh in years gone by – also lots of good sized brownies which he used to catch in numbers with a hazel switch, line, hook and worm, especially after a good flood of rain.
Fishing Trip
It would be great to see them back as I have told my own son about fishing in the Bredagh and he is keen to try it on his next visit to Moville from our native Paisley.

I just hope there will be something for him to catch!
I know some blame the quarry and its effect on the gravel spawning beds but I can’t help feeling that the raw sewage must share some responsibility.
I guess I would rather have salmon and sea trout than tomatoes!
