Town Clock
I've written three times now that the Town Clock was about to open and three times it hasn't.
I thought that I had bone fide information and was even told who would be leasing it.
This latest time I thought that it was a certainty as I had it from the horse's mouth so to speak.
Ready to Open
I was wandering past giving oput posters for the DylanFest when I saw guys painting the outside of the Town Clock.
One appeared to be the boss so I spoke to him.
He said that they hoped to be open on the Saturday night of the DylanFest but if not then the Sunday night but they would be open some time during the following week.
BeatlesFest
He said that they would take part in the BeatlesFest and chip in for the late licences.
Fortunately the owner had already signed up for the two festivals.
The guy I was speaking to, a Paul Rudd, said that they would be open using the owner McGowan's licence till the end of July when they would have their own licence which would have come through by then.
They would be open for alcohol first of all and then food a few weeks later - presumably that would coincide with the July end date.
They seemed ready to go.
Best Guess
My best guess about what happened was that they weren't able to open under the owner's licence and had to wait for their own to come through.
If that is correct then expect them to open around the end of July both for food and for drink.
However, that is only a guess and one hesitates to say anything at all after being wrong three times.
Open Up
If they are to make a profit it would be best to get it open for at least one of the three summer months.
We all know that it will be dificult to sustain through the winter - especially if the leasing costs that we hear about are true.
August is the peak month though so if they get it open by then they stand a chance.
