Town Clock rocks on a Friday night

Town Clock

The Town Clock have reduced the price of a pint of beer or a spirit to €3 on a Friday night.

They are also putting live music on - with the type of live bands not seen regularly since the Hair of the Dog.

Last night it was the Mindbenders.

They were excellent.

Early on there was a reasonable crowd - although not enough to justify the expense of the band plus bouncers and staff.

However, it gradually picked up and there was a good crowd there in the end - maybe as many as there were in the Town Clock on a Friday night in its heyday.

The management intend to keep the live music and gradually build up the Friday night so that they can really cash in during the summer.

That's good news for the town.
