Town Clock

We have now heard that the Town Clock won't be opening its doors again under the current management.

It has officially closed.

That's a great shame.

We are now down to 7 pubs open in the town when there used to be 16.

Suffered

The Town Clock has suffered in recent years from problems we outlined in the article immediately below this.

Now youngsters will be leaving the town to go to places like Carndonagh or The Bailey in Redcastle if they want to dance.

Also, there are now only two evening meal restaurants left in town, Rosatos and the Caiseal Mara - and the latter is in adminsitration and closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday each week.

Less Choice

While this may sound good for those rextaurants and pubs still open it will mean that as there is less choice, fewer people will come here.

It will also have an impact on the fesitvals that we run here.

Let's hope that the Town Clock can find a new buyer or lessee.

Surely when the thousands of people who are expected to come here for the Clipper Race in July get here they won't find a Dead Town with the Foyle shut on one side of the main square and the Town Clock shut on the other side.
