Tonight's the Night at the TradFest

Big Night

There are three definite venues for the TradFest tonight and one possible.

The Bar-A-Cuda's musicians pulled out and they are scratching around for someone to play there tonight - so there may or may not be music on tonight.

Venues

Caiseal Mara have the Emerald Trio playing there.

Paddy McLaughlin will be playing tonight at Rawdons along with Paul Bredin in a mixed trad and other music night.

Clodagh

Clodagh Warnock, ex internationally acclaimed band Deanta, will be heading a session at Rosatos and this could be the place to be.

Playing with Clodagh will be Ted Ponsonby, who has played with Van Morrison, Mary Black and EmmyLou Harris, Roison McGrory and Edel McLaughlin.

That's what's on the card.

Seven Up

However, I'm reliably informed, by a source close to owner Eddie Harkin, that there will be seven musicians playing there altogether.

Clodagh obviously has good contacts.

As she is a member of the group for promoting Traditional Music in Inishowen, it might be a good idea for the organisers to ask her if she will help out for the TradFest next year.

Young Family

She has a young family and so doesn't have as much time as when she was touring with Deanta but her contacts and knowledge of the trad scene would be invaluable.

I've done my best with getting trad musicians and getting the news out to the local press but I don't know the trad scene at all and how to connect to it.

Seven musicians may not be the end of it in Rosatos either.

There are likely to be other musicians who come along for the craic and to play.

Paddy McLaughlin

It will be the same at Rawdons where Paddy McLaughlin has been keeping traditional music alive and kicking in Moville for nearly twenty years.

It looks like it is going to be a good night and lets hope people dip into their piggy banks (or crredit card limits) and come out and have some fun.

It's been a long winter and a long recession so they could maybe do with a night off from it all.

After a good start last night I must say that I'm looking forward to the big night tonight.
