TradFest

In some previous TradFests taking place in Moville, some of the performers weren't keen to allow other players to join in.

At one session in the Bar-A-Cuda there were nine fiddle players alone with their instruments with them who were told by the players there that they couldn't join in.

That seems a shame as Trad is all about participation.

Big Question

So, this year, the one question that all the participants were asked is "Can other musicians come and join in with you?"

The answer each time was a resounding Yes with the players saying they would be delighted if other musicians came and joined in with them.

So, if anyone can play they should look out their fiddles or guitars, or flutes or pipes or whatever, dust them down and have a practice.

It's your festival this year.

People's Festival

Indeed, said Eddie Harkin at Rosatos "We have acts booked for the evenings and the bands will let people join in but if someone wants to come in at any time of the day and play that would be great and we'll give them a few drinks - and maybe a feed too if they're good".

That sounds like a bit of craic.

The Bar-A-Cuda have also indicated the same, i.e. that everyone can come and join in with the bands and that if someone wants to come and play during the day or evening they'll get a few drinks there too.

Big Fan

Indeed, the owner Mike Murphy is a big Trad fan.

He's really looking forward to it.

If you're local and local pub owners know you play a bit, don't be surprised to get approached in the run up to the TradFest.

If you're not local or they don't know you play - just introduce yourself.

This TradFest is starting to sound quite mouth watering.
