One Way System
It looks like a one-way traffic system is going to be foisted on Movillians.
It will affect Montgomery Terrace, Foyle Street, James Street and Quay Street.
It looks as if it has already got well past the decision stage.
The plans have already been drawn up and can be seen at Moville library.
No Problem
I don't know what other Movillians think but I can't see what problem this is going to solve.
There is no great problem with the flow of traffic in in Moville that I can see.
It pretty much runs smoothly.
London
When I lived in London traffic flowed more slowly than it did 100 years before.
In the year 1900 trafic went at an average speed of 10mph in England's capital.
In the year 200 it was 9mph.
That's a problem.
Not Here
We don't have that kind of problem here in Moville.
Our roads are hardly snarled up with traffic.
How often do you see a traffic jam in Moville?
This one-way system will solve a problem that we don't even have.
Noise Pollution
Buncrana needed it more but they have more than twice our population.
Do we really need a whole load of traffic piling along Montgomery Terrace with the noise that will go with it?
There will cause noise pollution whilst people picnic and play on The Green.
There could also be safety problems too with Moville's main traffic lane now to be situated next to a place where children play.
No Sense
It doesn't seem to make any sense.
There is no great traffic problem in Moville.
It flows pretty well compared with most places.
Do Donegal Council have too much money?
Are they looking at ways of shifting it?
Are these the same people who spent €278,000 on a two-day meeting about the proposed Sewage Treatment Plant at Carnagarve which has now been thrown out?
Traffic Lights
If they need to they could put traffic lights up in the town centre.
Even that as a sledgehammer to crack a nut as you seldom see any car waiting for any great length of time to get into or out of the Malin Road.
It seems that someone from Roads is coming to Moville Library on Feb 4th to explain it all.
I think I might nip along and ask him to come outside and show me the problem that he is trying to solve.
