Official Statement
The official statement as regards submissions in terms of taking over the running of the Putting Green and Crazy Golf is two articles down from this.
This article is unofficial and not sanctioned by or agreed with The Green Committee and is a personal analysis.
Re-opening
What appears to be the case, though, is that the Putting Green and Crazy Gold are likely to be re-opened this year.
Submissions from groups and individuals have been asked for and must be in by the 13th of May.
A decision on the winning submission will be taken at a meeting of The Green Committtee (or whatever they are called) on the 20th.
Insurance
It is likely that the Council's insurance will cover those playing Putting and Crazy Golf.
However, it wouldn't be likely to cover the insurance of anybody working there.
So, anyone willing to take it on would almost certainly have to get their own insurance - or perhaps pay the extra cost to the Council of insuring it.
Keeping the Money
Whoever took it on would be able to keep all the money, I believe.
I spoke to one guy who said that he took it on for one day, when it was open, and made a nice bit of money from 140 games being played that day.
If someone was to take it on they could, perhaps charge 2 to 3 Euros a game.
Good Job
It sounds like not a bad job.
You get to sit about in the sun except for when you have to take money off people.
If it rains you can just go home for a while till it stops.
I wouldn't mind doing it myself.
You could imagine how popular it would be during the summer festival if there was good weather.
Winners
The most likely winners of the submission process would be ones who could show that they could run it properly.
The facilities would most likely open in June.
The Green Committee are putting a proper submissions process in place so that everyone has an opportunity to tender and so that everything is above board.
Great News
It will be great to see the facilities open again.
It would be a great morale boost for the people of Moville and some good news happening about the town.
It might even bring more people across on the Ferry and up from Derry for the day if there was something for them to do, on a sunny day, when they got here.
