2011 Moville Festival Events

18-19 Feb - Traditional Music Festival

There will be traditional music all weekend long in Rosatos and Rawdons with other pubs to be added.

2-5 Jun - BeatlesFest (with Tribute bands)

This is the 5th year of Ireland's only annual BeatlesFest.

The highlight of 2009 was the performance of the Sick and Indigent Song Club in Rosatos on the Saturday night which a good few people said was the Gig of the Year in Moville.

The highlight in 2010 was the booking of Tony Bramwell who was George Harrison's best friend as a child and who knew Paul McCartney well too. Tony went on to become the Beatles road manager who was with them throughout the wild years and then went on to be joint head of their Apple Records and head of Apple Films when he made some of the earliest pop videos. He became head of Polydor Records when he had Slade, The Jam and Roxy Music in his stable. He discovered artists like James Taylor and Eva Cassidy.

Tony had been with Paul McCartney in Nashville a couple of weeks before he came to the BeatlesFest in Moville and received texts from him whilst he was here.

In 2011 Tony has agreed to be the Joint Organiser of the BeatlesFest on the Lough in Moville and will be reponsible for Getting the Acts and for the publicity (Tony was The Beatles PR guy so he's not a bad choice).

The BeatlesFest will also be multi-venue and will take place both indoors and outdoors.

30th June - 3 July - DylanFest (of Bob Dylan music)

This is the 5th running of Ireland's only annual DylanFest. It will take place in multiple pubs in the town, in the grounds of the hostel at Gulladuff House, on the shore of Lough Foyle by the Putting Green and, if the pubs want it, in the streets too.

There are other DylanFests in California, Detroit, upstate New York, Berlin, Manchester and Italy but the Moville one is the only one that is multi-venue and both inside and outside and is, arguably, the biggest.

The biggest successes of 2007 and 2008 were the Phantom Engineers with their gigs outdoors in the Malin Road.

The big success of 2009 were The Plea for their gig in the Town Clock.

The biggest success of 2010 were Al Diesan and Pino Tocco from Sardinia for their gig in Rosatos on the Sunday night.

Al and Pino have agreed to come back for 2011 and we hope to talk the others into coming back too.

Note:- If anyone else wants their festivals added here then just get in touch.
