"The King" is back

Long Live The King

Stephen McDermott, the man they call "The King" of Texas Holdem in Moville roared back into form last night in Rosatos on Wednesday night.

The man who won 10 games out of 51 last year in Rosatos had drawn a blank in January.

But he put January behind with last night's decisive win.

Joint First

As no one else has dominated this year's play with no one winning more than once, that puts "The King" back into joint first place.

That will satisfy him a lot - although there would be no way he would agree that he was Rosato's or Moville's joint best player.

He would feel that there would be no one 'joint' with him and that this 'joint' situation was temporary.

Very Modest

He was asked if he thought he would win 10 times again this year and replied, perhaps uncharacteristically "It's too early to say yet", very modestly.

Perhaps the others should have taken more advantage of his dip in form in January to win more than once.

But "The King" is now back in 'joint' control of his kingdom and all is well with the Texas Holdem world - or at least the Moville part of it.

2007 Winners

The winners so far in the chase for the Rosato's 2007 Texas Holdem trophy are as follows:-

1 - Graham Norris, Cathal Kelly, Eddie Harkin, Conor McElhinney, Stephen McDermott
0.5 - Paul Bredin, Andrew Norris
