The Cavernites

The Cavernites from Liverpool are to headline this year’s BeatlesFest on the Lough which takes place in Moville, Donegal from June 2nd to 5th – the bank holiday weekend.

The Cavernites are endorsed by the Cavern Club where The Beatles used to play twice a day before they shot to fame.

Said organiser Gerry McLaughlin “The Cavernites coming to Moville is great news. They are the top band we have had for any BeatlesFest.

"They will play the Bar-a-Cuda on the Friday and outside in the Malin Road on the Saturday and Sunday evenings.

Better Quality

“ Now that Tony Bramwell, the Beatles childhood friend and road manager throughout their great years, is involved in the organisation we are able to attract better quality acts all the time.

"Indeed we had to turn down a band this week composed of ex members of Freddie and the Dreamers, the Tornados and Woody Wood of Rod Stewart’s band as we had enough bands”.

Liverpool BeatlesFest

The Cavernites have performed their unique show all over the UK and abroad, in 2008 for Liverpool’s capitol of culture year they were asked to perform an outdoor show on a floating stage at Liverpool’s Albert Dock to over 30,000 Beatles fans on the August bank holiday Monday.

In 2010 The Cavernites performed Ten sell out performances at The International Beatles festival in Liverpool at the legendary Cavern club, performing on the famous Cavern wall stage and also the Cavern Live Lounge stage, the very same stage where Paul McCartney performed on his return to the Cavern in 1999.

In 2011 The Cavernites will perform twice at the world’s biggest Beatles festival in America, the famous 'Abbey Road on the River' in Louisville Kentucky and the capitol of America, Washington DC.

Honoured

Said Glenn Mitchell of The Cavernites “We are extremely honoured to be performing at this year’s BeatlesFest on the Lough in Moville.

"With three Liverpudlian's and a Scotsman in the band, our home cities have a long and happy connection to Ireland.

"In a way we will be coming home following our ancestors who travelled to Liverpool decades before us”.

Irish

Indeed, according to Tony Bramwell’s book Magical Mystery Tours: My Life With The Beatles, both Jon Lennon’s and Paul McCartney’s backgrounds were Irish and what’s more they considered themselves to be Irish.

Added Glenn, “Our show is an authentic recreation of the Live concert sound of The Beatles and many other great groups from the Sixties beat boom years.

"We hope you will join us for what is going to be a fantastic weekend performing and honouring the greatest band and musical decade there ever will be".
