St. Patrick's Day Parade a big success

Parade

Thousands of people watched the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Moville yesterday.

Once again it all went like clockwork.

It was enhanced by having two pipe bands this year.

They're always worth having.

More Floats

It seemed to me that there were more floats than last year and that the parade was on for longer.

It wasn't quite bathed in sunshine but it was better than the forecast which had been giving snow for St. Patrick's day and even the day before had been predicting showers.

For most of the parade the temperature was comfortable and the sun even peeped through the clouds at one stage.

It was only towards the end that it started to cool a bit.

Traders Delighted

The vans did a roaring trade as did the shops and the pubs.

Local traders will have been delighted at the boost to their businesses during these difficult times and that would have helped many of them who struggled through a hard winter.

The St. Patrick's Day Parade is always one of the highlights of the year in Moville and is eagerly looked forward to.

It is always well organised and it is a credit to those who run it and take steward duties.

So Far, So Good

That's two festivals in Moville this year so far (the TradFest also) and both have gone well.

It bodes well for the other festivals coming up in late spring and summer and it's great to see the Moville Summer Festival back up and running this year again.

The next festival up will be the BeatlesFest which will take place on the Bank Holiday weekend at the start of June from the 2nd to the 5th.
