Scoil Eoghan
I got a letter from Scoil Eoghan at the end of last term which went out to all the parents.
I was certain that it said that the pupils were to return on Wednesday, September 1st although I didn't have it to hand.
I discovered the night before that they were to return on the Monday rather than the Wednesday.
Up He Got
How could that have happened?
I got my son up the next day.
He wasn't very pleased to be told that he was going to school rather than being on holiday that day.
However, I discovered that his school clothes were all at his mother's house - and she had gone to college.
Buying Clothes
I went up to Kelly's shop to buy some soon after 9 o'clock but the shutters were all up.
Perhaps they had Monday off after the weekend.
I went up again between 10am and 10:30am and found them open.
Wednesday
"You thought the school was going back on Wednesday" smiled the person working there.
"Yes, I did." I replied.
I got my son a full kit for school which drained just about everything I had in my pocket.
Amused
I called in the school to find out what time lunch was as that would be a good time to go in rather than searching about for the right classroom - and to inform the teacher that my son would be in.
Whoever answered seemed amused that I thought it was Wednesday he was due back too.
How?
How could I have got it so wrong?
And why did Kelly's shop ask if I thought it was Wednesday they went back and not Tuesday or Thursday?
Why Wednesday?
Explanation
When he did come back from school my son told me that a note went out at the end of term from the Principal saying it would be Sepetember 1st that they would go back.
However, it seems that a notice was put in the Parish Bulletin saying that it was Monday.
Bulletin
It seems that there were a few pupils missing.
Now they know who doesn't read the Parish Bulletin.
Well, at least that's that all cleared up.
Weather Signs
I should have known that they were going back on Monday.
The weather forecast was for a spell of good weather.
It happens every year when the kids go back to school.
