Soap Box Derby
Moville's first Soap Box derby has had to be cancelled due to insurance costs.
It was going to be put on by Foyle Rowing Club.
It was to take place in the road running down from the Co-op.
No Straw
However, the insurance company insisted on straw bales being put all the way down the sides of the road.
The committee just can't get sufficient amounts of hay at the time of the year.
There is the possibility that they might stage it in September when hay is likely to be available but they still don't know if they will be able to get it in sufficient quantities to run all the way down the road where the Co-op is.
It's a shame that another exciting event has been taken off the calendar at the same time as the Summer Festival is in a state of disarray.
