Shoreline
My sister's husband, who comes from California, and who has seen a bit of the world said that Moville's shore walk is one of his favourite walks in all the world.
It starts with the wonderful Bath Green, gifted to the people of Moville by Bishop Henry Montgomery, and takes you past the historic St. Colmcill's Well to a marvellously scenic walk along the Lough's shore as far as Greencastle with the sun often shining on the water from the other side.
Expanding
However, with each winter, the Lough seems to be expanding onto the shoreline and onto the shore walk, making it more difficult each year to keep up.
Indeed part of the path had collapsed after a high and stormy tide the year before last.
Every year several tides are actually coming up onto the path and strewing debris, pebbles and sand not only onto the shore path but beyond as well.
Highly Popular
Moville's shore walk is highly popular and in summer you see local people and visitors alike taking advantage of it and the little mini beaches that lie by the side of it.
The sandpit by the Bathing Boxes was taken out long ago by the high tides of Lough Foyle and it would be a shame to see the shore walk gradually disappear because of higher ad higher winter tides.
