Jay Walker

People still reminisce about the great bands, many of them from Derry, that they used to get on a Saturday night in the Good Old Days a the Hair of the Dog.

There were some great nights down there in summer.

There was nothing like being there on a balmy summer's evening, with the music inside the pub (with the doors open), and standing outside with your pint on the sea wall, drinking and chatting and looking out over a moonlit Lough Foyle.

Those were the days!

The Plea

One of the bands who played there were The Plea who were very popular and have gone on to greater things.

Another of the great favourites was The Jay Walkers - Jim Walker's band.

There was always great excitement when they were to play and many a great evening was spent listening to their music.

With the closure of the Hair of the Dog there hasn't been so much opportunity to have full bands in the town and to my knowledge they haven't played in the town since.

However, they are back again this Friday night in the Town Clock.

Every Friday

The Town Clock have started putting bands on every Friday night such as the Kavanagh Brothers and The Mindbenders.

Now, this week they've managed to bag the Jay Walkers.

Those that remember them from their Hair of the Dog Days look upon them as legendary and are likely to be out in force to see them so it's likely to be a busy night.

See you there!
