Limavady Gig

The Phantom Engineers, Ireland's top Dylan band, warmed up for the DylanFest in Moville next week by playing in Limavady last Saturday.

They got the gig after the Limavady promoter saw them at last year's DylanFest playing as the headline act in the Malin Road.

And what a reception they got!

They played in a massive marquee called Owen's Marquee.

They were supported by The Deans who played last year's BeatlesFest in Moville after having been recommended by Henry McCullough - the only Irishman to have played at Rock's greatest festival, Woodstock.

Fantastic Crowd

Said Phantom Engineer, John Carragher:-

"We played in Owen's Marquee, a great venue.

"The night was a total success and the brainchild of John O'Neill manager of 'Rock The Valley Promotions'. John kindly looked after us all weekend and told us he wants The Phantom Engineers to return to Limavady for another of his shows!

"He provided The Deans, the future of blues music in Ireland as support for us.

"The guys we're kind enough to invite Illinois born and Phantom engineer keyboard player Anthony 'Keys' on stage to perform a classic Robert Johnson classsic much to the supprise and delight of the crowd!

"By the time we took the stage the audience were in great form.

"There must have been plenty of Dylan fans there because everyone was singing along to the songs.

Greatest Hits

"We played mostly a Greatest Hits set, with All Along the Watchtower, Like a Rolling Stone and Hurricane really getting everyone going.

"There was quite a lot of talk about Moville and the looming DylanFest.

"Posters were up and flyers were everywhere!

"We stayed in the Alexander Arms Hotel in the town, where the band and our friends were treated fantastically well.

"An aftershow party was held and the locals enjoyed a good sing song to an acoustic set performed by ourselves and John O'Neill.

Now For Moville

"We are proud to be asked to headline the second DylanFest in Moville Co Donegal, as it's the final (and most prestigious) gig on a hectic summer tour which has seen us play everywhere from Belfast's prestigious Empire to the Clancy Brothers festival, Co Tipperary,

"We can promise Moville an electrifying performance with 'a few special guests' on the Saturday night in the Malin Road!

"We've met so many people on our travels lately who've said they'll be in Moville this July for the 'Stuck Inside of Moville' DylanFest.

"It's a very impressive line up with top Dylan acts from Italy, England, Germany and France among others taking to the stage.

"So all we need is some good weather and hope that 'A Hard Rain (ain't) Gonna Fall 'and no one need take 'Shelter From The Storm'!"

Great Set Up

Said fellow Phantom Engineer, Tony Villiers "The gig was superb. It was a great set-up in the marquee. The promoter was pleased. We are going to be back later in the year.

"And of course the most important thing was that loads of Dylanfest flyers were handed out and posters stuck up around the place".

It seems that The Phantom Engineers, who have added one other to their 7-man outfit from last year, are going to be even better this year.

They're looking forward to coming to Moville's DylanFest which is their main gig of the year.

It's only next week now and it is all getting very exciting.
