Music Festivals

The year hasn't kicked off great for the businesses in Moville.

January and February are usually bad but this January it has gone deathly quiet.

Already the Town Clock has shut its doors and who knows if there are other businesses to follow in Moville.

Boost

So, let's hope the festivals can provide some needed boosts to the coffers of the Moville businesses.

We have already agreed the Calendar of Events for the three music festivals and the festival brochures are already published.

Some of you may have seen them about the town.

Dublin

We took them down to Dublin as well.

I got a couple of tickets for the Paul McCartney concert at the O2 in Dublin a few weeks ago and that event caused us to publish the leaflets early so that we could hand them out to people going into the concert.

It was freezing cold outside the O2 but my brother-in-law and me stuck it out for about an hour handing leaflets out to the concert goers until we decided that enough was enough and went inside.

Donegal

One guy that I handed a flyer to, who was in a group of people said, "BeatlesFest - great! Donegal? Why don't you hold it somewhere where there are people. Is there an airport there?"

I explained that Derry wasn't far away at all.

It was useful to get news out to such a focused audience.

I had also gone, with my sister, the night before, to a McCartney night at the huge Mercantile pub in Dublin and we passed leaflets round there - or rather my sister did.

Getting Around

So will the Dubliners come?

I don't know but news seems to be getting around.

My brother-in-law told me a couple of weeks later that someone in work had asked him "Are you anything to do with this BeatlesFest in Moville?"

Well, that's a useful start.

Promotional Ideas

We have lots more promotional ideas which will be revealed later.

Maybe no one will turn up - but at least we tried.

But I think we've got a good chance.

After all they turned up in previous years when we put in a lot less effort.

We'll see!
