Norovirus

Moville is being hard hit by the Norovirus which causes vomitting and diarrhea.

It seems that it last from 12 hours to 3 days.

It isn't pleasant but it doesn't last too long.

It seems it hits every winter but this year it is hitting particularly hard.

Very Common

Norovirus is responsible for 50% of all attacks of gastroenteritis.

Only the Common Cold is responsible for more of reported illnesses.

Wikipedia

Wikipedia says this about it:-

"The disease is usually self-limiting, and characterized by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

"General lethargy, weakness, muscle aches, headache, and low-grade fever may occur.

"Symptoms may persist for several days and may become life-threatening in the young, the elderly, and the immune-compromised if dehydration is ignored or not treated".

Stay Home

People are being asked to stay home till they are better to prevent it being spread.

There is a big worry that when people go back to work and school it will spread rapidly.

Stay away from hospitals is the advice unless you are particularly worried.

Hand washing is recommended to stop Norovirus spreading.

The advice being give is to:-

1. Drink fluids
2. Stay Cool
