Sands of Moville
There appears to be a 'new' beach in Moville.
My father tells me it used to be a beautiful beach when he was a boy - but pollution took its toll.
Now, for some unkown reason it has made a comeback.
Comeback Beach
The beach which has made the comeback is the one at the River Row close to the Bay Field.
Where it was filthy before now there is now nice golden sand at least at the higher level.
Why?
So what is it down to?
Is there less effluent coming down the River Bredagh?
That's unlikely. The pump which will be there in the future hasn't even been put in place.
Is there less pollution from Derry?
Possibly.
Shape Change
The shape of the beach has changed, though, and the sand is much higher up on the beach.
There is a bank now where there wasn't one before.
Maybe it's just the tides of the winter.
Maybe it's down to global warming and higher tides.
Who knows.
All we know is that there is now a bit of a sandy beach like the old days when there wasn't one before.
