Kelley Rea

As readers know there is going to be a Banquet and entertainment in Caiseal Mara on March 19th for Haiti.

The driving force behind it is Kelley Rea who was brought up in California but is now a well-known face about Moville.

Reasoning

So, why did she organise it?

Said Kelley "I saw the devastation on TV and I thought that I had to do something about it. Remember 9/11? This was far worse than that.

"There were 3,000 people killed on 9/11 and look at the action that was taken after that. Afghanistan and Iraq were invaded at a cost of tens of thousands of lives and many many billions of dollars were spent on it.

Much Worse

"So how much more action should be taken when 230,000 people are killed and three miliion people affected - many of them now homeless?"

"Irish people are THE most generous people in the world when it comes to putting their hands in their pockets to help people".

Indeed €11,300 was raised by St. Pius's Church from their congregation for relief aid for Haiti.

Work to be Done

Kelley's hoping that they haven't got Haiti fatigue now as there is still so much work left to be done.

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere and is crippled with debt so they can't get themsleves out of the nightmare.

Asking for More

So does Kelley find it easy or difficult to ask people for more money when people have given so generously in the past?

"When you are doing something for other people, expecially for those that desperately need it, it's easy to do.

"When you are asking for something for yourself it's far more difficult.

Great Show

"It's been fantastic that the performers have give their time for free and I would like to thank them for their generosity.

"I think that people are going to see a really great show - and they will be giving to people who really need it".

Tickets

Anyone who wants to buy tickets in Moville can get them from Caiseal Mara, Rosatos and Gillens or they can call Kelley on 074 938 5729 or 087 321 6590.
