Moville Events

There was an open meeting in the Caiseal Mara for the businesses and festivals of the town.

The aim was to unite to work as a unit especially to take advantage of Derry's Clipper race in 2012 and the City of Culture in 2013 which are massive opportunities both for Derry and its neighbours.

Moville Events, which had been operating previously agreed at a meeting two weeks ago to expand the group to include the businesses.

Well Attended

The meeting was well attended with around 30 to 35 people there.

Katrina Doherty, who has a background in PR and Marketing, had prepared a document which showed the opportunity.

She had also spoken to those involved in Derry's events and Derry was aware of the meeting taking place last night.

Action Group

According to a statement issued on Katrina's Facebook page:-
"Moville people met in Caiseal Mara Hotel last night to discuss how the town might benefit from Derry's City of Culture events. The East Inishowen Action Group includes the following committee members: Adrian Harkin, John Steele, Billy Tighe, Declan Carey, Gemma Havlin, Bren Whelan, Harold McGuinness and myself. We plan to meet with Derry in the coming days. Any ideas pass them on to any of the above".It's all looking very hopeful.
