Lighthouse Festival
Keep an eye out in the shops, restaurants and pubs of the town for the great new Programme of Events that has just come out for the Moville Lighthouse Festival.
It's quite colourful and easy on the eye and has all the events taking place at the Moville Lighthouse Festival over the 4 days from Friday July 29th to Monday August 1st.
It has also incorporated the Moville Regatta and Raft Race Events which take place over the same weekend.
Booklet
There are several other things that I like about it.
Firstly, it has used the booklet to raise funds for the event.
Instead of going round the doors and asking for money they have given something for what they are getting.
They have got 9 pages of information about the festival followed by 30 pages of local advertisers.
They are giving local businesses something back for what they are getting from them and it looks to have been a very successful way of raising funds from them.
Advertising opportunity
The other thing I like about it (and a lesson I'll learn for my festivals) is that they don't put what's on in the pubs in the official programme of events.
Instead they've given the pubs the opportunity to advertise in the booklet and many of them have taken it and advertised the events that are on during the festival.
For instance Rosatos' ad says "Live Music Every Night of the Lighthouse Festival" followed by who is playing on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Treat
Of course, one has to have a lot of non-pub events to be able to do this or your brochure would be very small.
The Moville Lighthouse festival committe has put their heads together and come up with a number of innovations and it looks like both the people of Moville and our visitors are in for a treat at the end of the month.
I can't wait!
