Movania Parkinson
Last summer Moville girl Movania Parkinson had a part as the wife of one of the main characters, Steve (Played by Fergal Doyle), in the film Eamon.
Now it has been announced that the film has been nominated for several categories in the Irish version of the Oscars, the IFTAs – Irish Film and television Awards.
The film she was in, Eamon, has been nominated for Best Film along with The Eclipse, Ondine, The Secret of Kells and Zonad.
Best Actress
Amy Kirwan is nominated as Best Actress for her role in Eamon along with Janice Byrne for Zonad, Saoirse Ronan for The Lovely Bones and Jade Yourell for Happy Ever Afters.
It’s also been nominated for Best Script.
Said Movania "I had a great time last summer making the film. I got the part after auditioning for a butter commercial. I didn't get the advertising role but I was utterly astonished when they said that they wanted me for the film role instead.
"The Director is really nice and thorughly deserves her nomination for the IFTAs. I hope the film wins at least one of them - although there is strong competition".
Big Bash
The annual awards will be taking place at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on Saturday February 20th – which will give Movania a dilemma as she has been invited along for the big event.
However, another big event will be taking place in Moville on the same night.
That’s the night that Moville GAA’s Strictly Come Dancing event will be taking place at the Caiseal Mara – and Movania has been training the nine dancing couples since November for this.
Should she go to the IFTAs and mingle with the famous national and international actors and actresses as well as directors and producers during the ceremony and at the party afterwards – or does she go to the Caiseal Mara to watch the couples she has been training and mentoring for the last two or three months?
Caiseal Mara
Said Movania "It would be lovely to go to the IFTAs in Dublin and it would be great to see the cast again as I had such a great time with them making the film.
"The party afterwards would have been great and an opportunity to mingle with Ireland's top directors and actors and to put myself in the frame for more film roles.
"However, after three months of hard work by the nine couples to get where they are, I don't think I should desert them on their big nights. I'm pretty sure I'll be at the Caiseal Mara in Moville rather than the Burlington in Dublin on that date".
Eamon went on general release on February 5th.
