Moville gets back into the water
Anyone who has been down by the pier in Moville on Tuesday and Thursday evenings will have seen the burgeoning Moville Rowing Club there unloading their punts and going rowing. They have 6 traditional Moville punts built. Rowing used to be a major activity in Moville years ago using the same traditional punts but it had died away in recent years along with a lot of the old activities.
However, there is now a thriving Rowing Club with around 40 members who pay an annual fee for the privilege. They have purchased three punts and get the use of three others. Between 15 and 20 of those rowers are youngsters. It's great to see the fun that they have doing the same as their grandparents and great grandparents before them in bygone days.
Kayaks
There are now kayaks for hire at Moville Pier as well, so Movillians are getting back to using the water more for their traditional water activities on the Foyle.
Adrian Harkin has set up a facility at Moville pier for kayaks where people can get expert training in kayaks. They can take half-day or full-day courses in kayaking. He is even running week long kayaking holidays putting the kayakers up in a house in Quay Street. More information can be found at www.justkayak.ie.
Moville Rowing Club are inviting other rowers and budding rowers to come and join them and have a lot of fun.
Moville Events
Its all part of the regeneration of Moville as a top holiday resort.
There's more and more to do in Moville these days for holidaymakers and Moville Events are making sure that more and more people get to know what is happening in the town resulting in bigger crowds for al the festivals.
Rosatos will be having a Table Quiz for Moville Rowing Club so that they can raise extra funds for safety equipment. It will take place on Thursday night at 9:30pm. All are welcome.
