Poll
A poll done last week by the Inishowen Independent showed Marian McDonald was likely to get just 7% of the vote for a Council seat.
Whilts Martin Farren, who is now standing under the Labour banner, had a creditable 8% this puts them both on the borderline.
Even worse was the 2nd vote situation.
Only 5% said that they would give Marian their 2nd vote and only 4% said they would give their second vote to Martin.
That could put them in trouble when 2nd votes are getting counted.
Concern
Whilst not wanting to get involved with local politics, as far as CraicOn is concerned (and I have no affiliations with, or leanings towards, any party), it would be a shame if there was no one in Moville you could go to with a concern or to get something done.
I've gone several times for advice to Martin Farren and have approached Marian about getting the White Wall back up and the Putting Green back open and she has facilitated both of these.
Unknown
I'm sure there are perfectly good candidates standing for election from places like Muff and Carndonagh but I don't know them and wouldn't bump into them when going up for my newspaper to Gillen's in the morning or when out and about of an evening.
It would be great if Moville was represented by two people on the Council but it's an absolute necessity to have at least one.
Disaster
Having no one from Moville on the Council would be an absolute disaster.
It seems that Carndonagh went 7 years without someone from their town on the Council, and they suffered because of it.
One hopes that this is not the situation in Moville next week after the results are announced.
