Moville Community College

I had noticed it before on my way past Moville Community College on my way to play Pitch and Putt at Cooley but it made me think this time as I took a form for my daughter up to the school.

It has a careful cultivated and cut hedge just inside the entrance which says 'Failte' on it.

Then when I went up the driveway I saw a sign saying'Welcome to Moville Community College'.

Important

It may not seem a bit deal but I think it is important to visitors to know that the school is going to a lot of trouble to tell people that they are welcome.

People like to be welcome.

People don't assume they are welcome.

It's always best if you tell them they are.

It's just like people not assuming they are loved.

You've got to tell them they are and not assume that they know it.

Reassuring

For anyone going into Moville CC for the first time it is very reassuring that the school have gone to a great deal of effort to tell them that they are welcome there.

But are people welcome in Moville?

They may well be but there's no sign at the entrance to the town telling them that they are.

Going into and out of town the sign that people see just says Moville - take it or leave it.

It doesn't tell people whether they would be welcome there or not.

Visitors Needed

This is a holiday town that needs visitors more than anything else.

It's par for the course in America and elsewhere for signs to say 'Wecome to .....".

I bet coming into Moville, Iowa it says 'Welcome to Moville'.

It may not seem a big deal but I think that it is reassuring for visitors if a town goes out of its way to tell them that they will be welcomed there.

Welcome to Moville

I'm sure that it is just an oversight or just the custom here to just put up a sign with the town's name on it.

However, it wouldn't take too much to make a sign saying Welcome to Moville rather han just Moville (take it or leave it).

It gives those driving into it a feelgood feeling - and it wouldn't take much effort or cost much money at all.

I might mention it to Martin Farren when he gets back from holiday.
