Moville
It was a fantastic Easter holiday weekend in Moville, both in terms of the weather and the number of visitors coming here.
It was like boom times again after a depressing two or three years.
It looks as if the visitors are coming back again.
The tills were ringing in the pubs, restaurants and shops of the town.
Greencastle
If Moville was busy then Greencastle was absolutely heaving.
One person said that it was like regatta weekend there - whcih is astonishing for April.
Thank God the ferry is still on.
They must have had a bumper weekend too.
Next Week
There's another bank holiday weekend coming up straight away which is further good news for Moville.
It is even better because the Friday is a bank holiday for the Royal Wedding in the north.
I should imagine there might be one or two from Derry who'll come here rather than watch it.
Downturn Over
If next weekend is good (and the forecast is good) then perhaps Moville's downturn is over earlier than the rest of the country.
We've got the bank holiday next weekend then we have the BeatlesFest during the bank holiday weekend at the start of June followed quickly the next weekend by the Inishowen Vintage Show, then the DylanFest at the start of July and the new Lighthouse Music and Arts festival at the end of July.
Perhaps the good times are coming back again.
Bright Future
A lot of wood needs to be touched.
But if the rest of the summer is anything lik the past weekend then Moville could be in for a bumper summer.
And then there's the Round-the-World Clipper race next year and the Derry City-of-Culture the year after that.
Perhaps the cavalry have arrived at last for Moville.
