Aer Arann

Two new services are going to start up from May from Derry airport to Manchester and Edinburgh.

They will be Aer Arann flights and will start on May 20th.

The Manchester flight will be daily and the Edinburgh one will operate 6 days a week.

Man Utd

This will save local Man Utd fans having to travel to Liverpool first when going to the matches.

It will also please Moville's growing army of people living in Manchester.

It will even facilitate fans going across to the UK's only DylanFest in Manchester and coming over to the DylanFest in Moville from Manchester.

DylanFest

The Manchester DylanFest has a lot of connections with the Moville one with the Manchester DylanFest being set up after hearing about the Moville one.

Also, the Moville DylanFest has had performers over from the Manchester DylanFest and vice versa with Matt Whoriskey playing a highly acclaimed set there.

Dublin

The service from Derry to Dublin will also start at the earlier time of 7:40 to arrive in Dublin at 8:30 - a more sensible time for those who work there.

Will we have people commuting from Moville to Dublin on a daily basis?

It's almost worth it looking at the cost differential of the two places.

A night out in Moville plus a return air fare would probably be as cheap as a night out in Dublin.

Success

I would think that the Manchester route is likely to be a success but not so sure about the Edinburgh one.

It would also be good if Aer Arann took over the old BA route from Derry to Glasgow (Paisley not Prestwick) which would be far handier than the Ryanair one.

However, it is good to see the number of flights from Derry airport increasing.

Oh, and the price for the Manchester and Edinburgh flights is £36 one way.
