Big Baldy

As I came home from a night out last night I saw some youngsters up to something at the bottom of the town down by the bridge by the steps of the River Row.

There were between 6 and 8 of them, male and female - but mostly male.

"What could be up to?" I wondered.

Sheet

They seemed a friendly enough bunch and I said hello to one of them as I passed by.

I could see that they were putting up some kind of sheet with letters on it.

In the morning, as I went for my newspapers, I had a further look.

Big Baldy

It said:-

Lordy, Lordy!
Big Baldy's 40
John Killen

I presume that John Killen is the person who is turning 40 rather than the author of the statement.

Nice Touch

I'm sure that John will be secretly pleased, whatever he says, that they took the time to stick it up in the middle of the night.

They must be sure that he would be headed down the Derry Road some time on Saturday.

It's a nice touch!

I would hope my children will do something like that for me when I get to 40.
