Best Performance

Eddie Harkin saw them on Youtube and offered them a gig at Rosatos.

james & Naimh took the opportunity and grasped it with both hands.

Even though they are only 15 years of age they didn't freeze.

They gave a perfomance that had the customers of Rosatos cheering.

Eddie booked them again - and again.

Lighthouse

They played on the main stage of the Lighthouse Festival in the main square of Moville.

They are both very talented.

Niamh has a great soulful voice.

James is a wizard on the board and speakers and plays a mean guitar too.

Most people at 15 have potential.

Most good 15 year old singers have a voice that is good but needs refinement.

Finished Article

Niamh doesn't need any lessons.

She is already there at 15.

She and James turned in a great performance tonight at Rosatos that really got the audience involved.

I counted 56 people on a Friday night in Rosatos when I came in.

That's more like a Saturday night sized crowd.

However, news of James and Niamh has spread.

Soul

I don't understand where Niamh's soulful voice comes from.

The great black singer,s like Aretha Franklin, were able to pull inspiration from their hard lives when they were raped or abuse by husbands, father, uncles and brothers.

Niamh probably hasn't even been dumped by a boyfriend yet and comes from a supportive family.

Surely her 'blues', her 'soul' doesn't come from being given detention in school for not doing her homework.

More to Come

I did speak to her after she finished her gig and said how great I thought it had been.

I also said to her that I thought that there was something else to come - that she was still holding something back - that she still wasn't giving everything to her audience - and she agreed with that.

She just needs to watch James Mcivor, who is arguably the best singer in town, and who leaves nothing behind.

He puts it all on the line for his audience without fear of rejection.

Niamh

Once Niamh feels confident enough to put it all on the line and sing without fear that someone will shout 'rubbish' then she really will have come of age.

She knows that she is close to it now.

I'd like to be at the gig when she does a James McIvor and puts it all out there on the line.

That will be a special night.

And it's coming soon.
