Town Clock
It's now official.
The Town Clock opened for the last time on January first and they have now closed their doors.
The staff have been told and the keys handed in.
Shame
It's a shame for the town to lose yet another pub / restaurant.
One hopes it is temporary.
However, the For Sale sign is up outside the doors.
It won't be easy for them to lease it out again as it hasn't worked out for the past two lessees.
Bad Start
It's probably jsut as well as the lessees quit now because January and February are likely to be pretty grim and the New Year has started off badly for businesses in Moville.
People have been saying ever since the Town Clock opened up again that they would find it difficult to pay the lease of what was estimated to be about a grand a week - some say more.
There's just not the trade at the moment.
Festivals
The Town Clock took part in both the DylanFest and BeatlesFest last year.
People are still talking about the performance of The Plea on the Saturday night there.
Thery said it was the highlight of the DylanFest.
The Sick and Indigent Song Club also played there on the Friday of the BeatlesFest.
Blow
The venue will be sadly missed when it comes to the summer festivals.
With the Town Clock and the Foyle Hotel shut that is a devastating blow to the main square in Moville.
If they remain shut that will mean that there will be no DylanFest or Beatlesfest outside in the square this year.
Needed
Let's hope that a couple of people come along and open them up again.
The town needs them.
That's the Foyle, the Waterfront, the Hair of the Dog (Anchor) and the Town Clock gone in a short space of time.
