Vintage Show

This year's Inishown Vintage Show was its 10th anniversary.

It just goes from strength to strength.

It started off as a spin off from the Vintage Car Rally but now it is really something in its own right.

Longer

It moved from a one-day affair to a two day affair last year and a three day affair this year.

There had been some misgivings as the weather forecast wasn't great and some people wondered if they had bitten off too much by going for the Friday as well.

And, although the show was a big success last year the economy has gone down further since then and people have less money.

Weather Not Great

The weather wasn't great on Friday night, which kept the numbers down to about 130 - which was decent for a Friday night - especially as there were no major overheads as the Marquee was hired for the weekend.

The weather forecast for the Saturday wasn't great either - but in the end it remained sunny for the most of the day.

But would the crowd come?

The answer?

Yes they did - in their hundreds.

Estimates

I have heard estimates that there was a thousand or more people there on the Saturday night although I'm told that perhaps 600 to 700 would be a better estimate.

That's a big crowd for Moville in June.

That's before the tourists arrive.

Remember that Moville's population is 1,465 so that was the equivalent of nearly half Moville's population in Carrick Field.

I'm told the bands were great too.

Vintage Show

The Vintage Show on the Sunday didn't get the sunny weather it usually gets but there were still big crowds to see it.

All in all it was a highly successful weekend and lots of money raised for local charities.

I'm sure that, to everybody, it looks as if it runs smoothly but a lot of hard work goes in over the year to make sure that it does.

It brought a lot of people to the town and the pubs were full early on before people took themselves up to the Marquee.

Congratulations to everyone involved in it.
