Tattoo Artist
A new tattooing business, to be called Squid Ink, has just started up locally.
It is run by Greencastle man David Kearney.
It is the first one in Inishowen.
David intends to run it on a mobile basis till he gets a premises of his own.
Lots of Tattoos
David, himself, has 26 different tattoos.
Said David "I got the first one in America and intended that to be the only one. However, a bit later I fancied a second one and then a third one. I got those done at Physical Graffitti in Limavady. Then I kept just wanting one more till I got to 26".
So, how did he learn how to do it himself.
Said David "I spent 4 months being mentored and trained by the girl at Physical Graffiti watching every tattoo she did and being given training and tips on what to do and what not to do.
Doing Some
"Indeed I went down the country with her last weekend to the Velocity Rally at the GAA pitch just outside Castle Blaney in Monaghan, at a show run by the Iron Horsemen Motorbike Club, to help her out and do some of the smaller tattoos.
I was tattooing and sketching out ideas. I did a lot of flowers surprisingly enough at a bikers convention and also did a tribal design on one chap's back and fixed up some other tattoos that he'd had done before that he wasn't happy with.
"All in all it was a really good show.
"Now I'm back in Moville / Greencastle I'm ready to start my new Inishowen business and hope to get some customers.
"I've already done tattoos for some friends and they have been happy with the results".
