Hi Gerry,
Thanks for e-mail today.
Just got back from Cheltenham Everyman theatre to see a spoof production of a classic film, The 39 Steps - it was very funny.
I have e-mailed my brother Phil this evening with everything.
He is playing in Telford Shropshire tonight and probably won't see it till sometime tomorrow (Sunday 24/01/10) Phil lives in Birmingham and I live slightly out "in the sticks" near Malvern, Worcestershire.
Thanks for other info.
My Mother
I will ask my Mother about your Father's family and the Lafferty's at Redcastle when next I see her.
She will be 92 this June and is physically frail but mentally as bright as a button.
She probably knew your Father as a young child when she was in her teens (My father confirmed that this was true).
Mulhearns
If I recall correctly, looking at the front of my Granny's house, the McGeoghan's lived immediately to the right with a retired couple called the Mullhearn's who lived to the left - I believe they were Church of Ireland people and I think at one time Mrs Mullhearn used to take in washing for the Montgomery family when they lived in Moville.
These are just recollections from the 1950's and 60's and may be totally wrong.
My Mother will still have photos from Moville, mainly associated with holidays spent there.
Thornhill
Incidentally my Mother appears in a photo she has at her home taken at Thornhill College Derry, early 1930's, which is reproduced in a book published in the last few years about the history of the school, my eldest brother Liam, was given a copy of the book after asking if he could visit my Mother's cousin's grave,
Sister Evangelist, at the old College site.
Also in the photo is, I believe, Maureen Kiely (actress) who was actor Cyril Cusack's first wife; I will have to check this with my Mother whether my recollection is correct?. More useless info!
Dylan Project
Hope Phil picks up the e-mail and is in touch with you soon.
The Dylan Project is well received wherever it is played.
Phil sometimes plays with Hibernian bands/musicians in Birmingham and in the 1970's spent quite a time in Derry helping with a theatre and music project aimed at getting young people across the divide to get together, but he was "advised" to quit and get out for his own good and reluctantly had to pull out of it.
His students left him with a super memento for his time and effort there.
Best wishes for 2010 festival.
Kind regards, Kevin.
