Kate McLaughlin
A song about sibling admiration which is about Moville girl Kate McLaughlin, written and sung by her sister Angie McLaughlin, has been hitting the airwaves of Ireland since it's release on November 6th.
The song I Wanna Whistle Like My Sister Kate has been on RTE1's Playlist of the Week and has been played over and over again. It has also been picked up by other radio stations.
It is from the Sick and Indigent Song Club's new CD, Punch Drunk, which is available from Tower Records. It got great reviews in the Irish Times and the Herald and a Five-Star review in The Dubliner.
Angie McLaughlin, who is often in Moville, plays with the Sick and Indigent Song Club in places like Whelan's in Dublin and has played the Electric Picnic the last four years. They played Rosatos and the Town Clock at this year's BeatlesFest in Moville.
I wanna Whistle Like My Sister Kate is the song that the radio stations have picked up from the CD, which was released on November 6th, with a premiere at Dublin's Sugar Club in front of an audience of more than 500 with a good few down from Moville to see it.

Lyrics
The lyrics of the song are about younger sister Angie's admiration for her older sister Kate in their early days in Greenock where they were brought up and Moville where they used to spend the summer.
Kate now lives in Moville with her family and Angie lives in Dublin.
The lyrics of the first verse of the song are:-
I wanna Whistle Like My Sister Kate,
Have boys waiting by the garden gate,
She didn't worry 'bout the hucklebuck,
Too busy practicing her keepy-up,
To show the boys in town,
She can beat them all hands down,
I wanna whistle like my sister Kate,
That's the kind of girl I wanna be.
Another song by Angie on the CD, "Whisky is a Girl's Best Friend" was written about her niece Rhea's dog Digger, when Angie was up in Moville and was originally called "Digger is a Girl's Best Friend". However, Whisky won out in the end for that one.
If you should meet Kate about Moville ask her to whistle for you. It's quite a piercing fingers-in-the mouth whistle - so you shoud stand a few steps back before asking. While you're at it throw her a ball and ask her to do some keepy-up. She has been able to do over 300 in the past.
The CD Punch Drunk is currently rising up the Irish Charts and can be bought here www.smartchoicemusic.com/store/Punch-Drunk-pr-6749.html
