Town Clock
It is looking like the Town Clock has shut its doors.
It hasn't been open since New Years Day.
It stayed closed on Saturday and Sunday at the weekend - which would normally be very busy days just after the New Year.
Indeed other eating places in town were crowded over the weekend whilst Movillians and those back home or visiting wers still in a festive mood.
Surprise
It seems that it came as surprise to at least one member of staff who turned up unawares to start work.
It would be a real shame for the town if another food and drink outlet closed down.
In recent years we have lost The Anchor, The Waterfront and The Foyle Hotel.
Other Shutdowns
Previously Moville had lost Winnie Divers, the New Park and the Emerald plus another couple in the Malin Road.
Indeed going further back there was also McCorristons where Donal's butchers is now.
My father used to work there as a boy putting the tops on the bottles.
Remaining
The only ones left now, it seems, are Rawdons, Rosatos, McGettigans, Maguires, the Trawlerman, Caiseal Mara, Corner Bar and the Bar-A-Cuda - which is only opened at the weekend these days.
So, we have gone down from 17 pubs to just 8.
The Town Clock took part in both the DylanFest and the BeatlesFest last year.
If it goes on like this there won't be enough pubs left to hold the music festivals.
Silver Lining
Of course, they may just have gone on holiday or something - but surely they would have told the staff.
If there is one silver lining it is that the extra business should help keep the other pubs and restaurants in the town going.
When is it all going to end though?
