Moville Craic

According to the talk on the street, the pub licence of the Corner Bar has been sold.

We have even heard the price that they got for it but it would be inappropriate to name it here.

The story goes that the licence was sold to someone in Galway.

Bed and Breakfast

The Corner Bar run a very successful Bed and Breakfast business and it seems (according to the story) they intend concentrating on that in the future.

That means that the number of pubs in the town will go down to just 11.

Lost Pubs

The town has lost The Hair of the Dog (ex-Anchor), New Park, The Welcome Inn, Winnie Divers, and the Emerald in recent years.

My father, Gerry McLaughlin senior, says that there were two more prior to that. There was McSheffery's which was between Rawdons and the Bakers (now Karma) and one that sounds like McOishins (which I'm sure was not the spelling).

Where To?

So, where will the Corner Bar trade go now?

The bets are that The Trawlerman and McGettigans will be the beneficiaries.

If, of course, the rumour is true.
