Guinness
Many years ago Guinnness ads used to say that Giunness Is Good for You.
They stopped that twenty years ago no doubt nudged by the authorities.
Now, however, it has been proved by a new survey that it IS good for you.
Dogs Dinner
They tested dogs with narrowed arteries by giving some of them Guinness and some of them lager.
They saw no difference in those that drunk the lager.
However, those that drunk a pint of Guinness a day saw their heart conditions improve.
Reduced Clotting
They had reduced clotting in their blood.
It seems the Guinness prevents heart clotting which can lead to heart attacks.
They reckon it contains antioxodants just like fruit and vegetables.
The best results were contained when patients took a pint of it with their main meal of the day.
Five Portions
Doctors recommend five portions of fruit or vegetables per day.
I wonder if you could just have five pints of Guinness a day instead.
I wonder, also, if Doctors McGinley, Fall, Bourke and Duffy up at the Health Centre will be tempted to sign a prescription form for a pint of Guinness per day for those with narrowed arteries and heart conditions.
Appreciated
I'm sure it would be much appreciated both by outpatients and by local publicans.
I hadn't realised that those that I see drinking Guinness in local pubs are actually health freaks.
Well, there you are now!
