Good spell of sunny weather coming

May and September

It always seems to be that May and September are good here - and the traditional summer months of June, July and August are disappointing.

Spring was about a month late this year and although May was quite good June was better.

July was disappointing and August may have been a draw with some really good days like the BeatlesFest Sunday and a couple of real stinkers when it was overcast and gloomy and it poured all day.

Good Spell

My father, Gerry senior, says that the old people used to tell him that September, when they brought in the harvest, was always good in Moville.

It looks as if that is going to be proved true again.

The good, sunny weather looks as if it is going to start just after mass tomorrow.

Churchgoers may find the weather better when they come out of church than when they went in.

Forecast

After that ten of the next fourteen days are forecast to be predominantly sunny with two cloudy and only two wet.

The farmers will be delighted with that - and not just the farmers.

The sunny spell doesn't start particularly warmly at 14 degrees but it warms up later in the week to 19 degrees.

Schooltime

Another phenomenon that seems to hold true once again is that the weather gets good just as the children go back to school.

It hasn't been too bad in the last week or so but the summer has had an absence of a spell of continuous hot balmy weather.

Of course, as we know around here, the weather forecast could completely change.

Good for Now

I could check it tomorrow and find that it's mostly going to be wet for the next two weeks.

That's happened before.

However, as of now, the forecast is good.

Update 29/8/10

The weather forecast has already changed - but for the better.

There are now 13 days of sun, two of cloud and none of rain predicted for the next 15 days.

Wow!
